The Government as well as Hermes are preparing for an international public tender for the expression of interest for the management of the premises of the old Larnaca and Paphos airports, which are adjoining the new airport facilities.

The tender stated that investors should reach an agreement with the manager of the airports (Hermes Group) until 2031 and then with the state. The maximum time for managing the space could go up to 99 years.

Furthermore, the tender states that the rental would be for both the old airport buildings as well as the land nearing these buildings.

We must remind our readers about the Chinese entrepreneur whose efforts to utilize these facilities for a huge expo project were abandoned after the involvement of politicians, parties and other interests. At the same time the upcoming licenses for casinos puts many into thinking and planning for the most appropriate areas that could accommodate such projects. Airports are definitely ideal-casino locations.
